The eCAS® PC must be dedicated to the call accounting software. Laptops, notebooks, and virtual PCs/servers are not supported. The table below details minimum requirements based on these assumptions:
Database
Length of current period = three months (at which point, an archive is created and older data records are deleted)
Number of archives stored in the eCAS PC = four three-month periods
Reports
Number of detail report files kept in the eCAS PC = two per month (stored life of reports = three months)
Report generation is scheduled for off-hours
NOTE: The eCAS installation may require additional Windows® components. At that time, the CD with the PC operating system should be available.

TABLE NOTES
- Call volume should be doubled if (a) using 'Call Splitting' on a DEFINITY G3 R2V5 Release 4.0+ switch or (b) tracking internal calls. Call volume estimates should also account for tracking abandoned calls.
- SQL Server 2005 Express + SP2 (provided by the eCAS installation) is limited to 4 GB of data in the current database; this represents between 6 and 9 million call records (depending on the length of such variable fields as extensions, authorization codes, account codes, dialed number, etc.). A full SQL Server Standard Edition — 2000 + SP3 or SP4 or 2005 + SP2 — is required if exceeding this limit. Users are responsible for the purchase and installation of the full SQL Server database, which must reside on the eCAS PC.
- Operating system: XP Pro = Windows® XP Professional (32-bit) + SP2; Vista = Windows® Vista (32-bit) Ultimate, Business, or Enterprise (eCAS 4.3 and later); 2003 Server = Windows Server™ 2003 Standard or Enterprise Edition + SP1 or R2 (32- or 64-bit. The 64-bit edition is supported in eCAS 5.0 or later and requires an x64 architecture-based PC). Processor class: desktop (SQL Server Express) – or – server (full SQL Server).
- Smaller systems (less than 500,000 CDR / month) need only 10 GB free space. Hard drive must be formatted as NTFS. Speed: 7200 RPM (10,000 RPM SCSI for a full SQL Server). Storage area network (SAN) drives or flash drives are not supported.
Device Requirements
Basic

For multi-site systems using serial or modem connections to CDR sources; not required for
network connections.
Comtrol RocketPort 32-bit PCI multi-port board 5
This board provides 4 additional serial ports, expandable to 8 by ordering the expansion octopus cable. It requires one PCI slot in the PC.
All other ports not used for Remote Access are used for direct connect or polling modems:6
1 port per direct connected CDR input (main or remote sites)
1 port per modem polling up to 10 sites
1 port for Call Home modem (optional)
Other Requirements

NOTES5. The Comtrol RocketPort 32-bit PCI board is highly recommended when more than two serial ports are required. The preference for multi-port boards is the PCI version. It is the customer's responsibility to purchase, install, and maintain the multiport board. The customer must also make sure that the serial ports are working before the installation of eCAS. The Comtrol part number for the 4-port board is 99097-0. The Comtrol part number for the 8-port board is 99098-7.
6. Although all internal, external, and USB-type modems that have been tested work well with eCAS, the eCAS support team can only provide limited assistance with modems.
